NEW THIS WEEK

 Mr. Dais Call

This past Sunday, Mr. Dais received a divine call to Faith Lutheran School in Tacoma Washington. The call is to teach 5-6th grade along with the extra duties of athletic director and technology. Please keep Mr. and Mrs. Dais in your prayers as he contemplates where he should best use his talents.

Once a student receives a Wisconsin Parental Choice Program (WPCP) voucher, the voucher is renewable for three additional years. Renewal is relatively easy.

The parent/guardian logs back into the same site that (s)he did the first time and answers the required questions. There is no need to prove financial eligibility for renewal. The state assumes the family’s financial eligibility based on the initial application.

Most WPCP applicants report that reapplication takes far less time than first-time application - just a few minutes. Once reapplication is complete, most applicants send a proof-of-residency document to Lakeside with the student for verification. No meeting is necessary. Lakeside sends an email to the parent/guardian once verification is complete.

Like first-time applicants, the parent/guardian of students in their second, third, or fourth year will receive notification in June from the state Department of Public Instruction that the voucher is renewed. The parent/guardian should follow the directions in an email that Lakeside sends to its WPCP families in May.

This is the final week for application and reapplication to the WPCP for 2018-2019. Applications must be completed by this Friday, April 20, and all necessary documents must be at Lakeside the same day.

For further information how the WPCP may serve your family, contact Principal Grasby at Lakeside (920-648-2321).

If Lakeside does not receive this acceptance, the voucher is forfeited. Instructions how to do this will be emailed to all verified applicants in May.  For further information how the WPCP may serve your family, contact Principal Grasby at Lakeside (920-648-2321). After verification is complete for a Wisconsin Parental Choice Program (WPCP) application, are there factors that could prevent a student from receiving a voucher?

Next school year, up to 3% of all students living in each school district may receive a voucher. For a district with 1,000 students in K-12, this means that as many as 30 students are eligible for vouchers to any approved choice school. For most students, the “3% rule” will not be an issue.

The other factor is whether the school to which the student has applied has enough open seats. For 2018-2019, Lakeside opened 107 seats - including 50 for freshmen. The board determined this number.

Using the freshman number of 50 seats, what if 52 students apply? The state will allow Lakeside to slide unused seats from other grades to the freshmen level. If there are still too many applicants for the number of open seats, the state will conduct a random lottery to select those freshmen who will receive seats. At this time, there are plenty of available seats for freshmen. Lakeside also set aside one or two seats per grade for transfer students in grades 10, 11, and 12.

For further information how the WPCP may serve your family, contact Principal Grasby at Lakeside (920-648-2321). The application period closes on April 20.

Hope to see many of you there so you can hear the many exciting things happening here at St. Paul.

Preschool will be in session April 6.  It was previously reported that there would be no preschool on Friday, April 6.  Plans have changed and there will be preschool as scheduled on April 6.

4th Quarter Mission Offering

The 4th quarter mission offering will be designated towards Operation Go. Operation Go consists of Lakeside students going out to various parts of North America from as far south as the Caribbean, as far north as Alaska, out east to New York, and as west as Idaho. Each designated group will have its own mission focus. A number of our past St. Paul students will be involved in these mission outreach ventures. Let’s remember these teenagers in our prayers and our offerings.

April 14-15 – Fine Arts Fair at Lakeside.  In addition to instrument, music, and proper black & red attire, each band student must bring his own music stand.  While stands will be provided for solos, they will not be provided for the group band.  If you need a music stand, please get one.  They are available for purchase at White House of Music.

Once a family applies for a voucher and Lakeside verifies the information, what’s next? The answer is: “Wait!”

The application period ends April 20. Then, the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) must process applications from throughout the state. It takes time to do this. Typically in early-mid June, each applicant family receives an email from the DPI informing it on the status of its application: the student receives a voucher, or (s)he is on a waiting list to receive a voucher. To date, every verified WPCP applicant to Lakeside has received a voucher. Furthermore, since Lakeside opened 107 seats for 2018-2019 - including 50 for incoming freshmen - it is likely that every applicant will once again receive a voucher.

There is less than a month remaining to apply. If you plan to apply, do it soon.

For further information how the WPCP may serve your family, contact Principal Grasby at Lakeside (920-648-2321).

 NEW THIS WEEK

Class Composites are being sent home today.

Summer School information has been emailed to every family.  Read it carefully and follow the directions to sign up for classes.  If you would like a paper copy, they are in the kiosk.

Spring Break for School is March 19-23. Both Lakeside & St. Paul share similar dates.  God bless your family time together.  There will be no daycare during spring break.

Is it necessary to meet with someone from Lakeside following application for a Wisconsin Parental Choice Program (WPCP) voucher?

Occasionally, a parent or guardian drops off what they believe is the correct documentation and leaves Lakeside - only to find out that something is incorrect or missing. Then, they need to return to Lakeside to correct the information or bring something new.

After a WPCP application is made for a new (i.e.: first year) student, a meeting with the parent(s) or guardian(s) is highly recommended. In this meeting, a Lakeside representative will verify that the information for the application is correct.

After an online application is complete, call Lakeside (920-648-2321) to speak with Mrs. Becky Retzlaff (extension 2222) or Principal James Grasby (extension 2204) to arrange a time for a verification meeting. During the phone call, you will be instructed what to bring for the meeting.

As of March 11, 12 noon, there are 59 applications for vouchers to Lakeside. 36 are for Lakeside students currently in the program and 23 are for incoming 9th graders. Lakeside opened 107 seats for next year. 50 of those are reserved for incoming freshmen. There are also a handful of seats available for 10th, 11th, or 12th graders wishing to transfer to Lakeside. The application period closes on April 20.

For further information how the WPCP may assist your family to provide a Christian secondary education at Lakeside for your child, contact Principal Grasby at Lakeside (920-648-2321).

Wednesday Evening Meals –We are asking for your help in regards to the Wednesday Lenten suppers. We are asking that the gym area be kept as a dining hall for the evening and not a gymnasium. People are coming back and forth, including the elderly, and we want to keep it as a safe environment for everyone. If students are running around and playing tag, they are not watching for those coming and going. Thank you for your help.
