2017-18 Home SPL Basketball Games

Our St. Paul Cardinals are hosting several home games this winter season. To be successful we need your help volunteering during the contests. Parents of Cardinal basketball players are required to sign up no less than two times per season. Games begin at 5 p.m. unless otherwise noted. Please sign-up and help out and cheer on our Cardinals as they pursue victory. Sign up genius link:

Volunteer Help Needed (Sunday) - Mr. Gartner is looking for 4-6 volunteers to help prepare and deliver the snacks  provided to the students in between the services. It usually consists of cutting bananas in half, counting enough for each classroom, and then delivering to the rooms after the first service. If you would be willing to help, please email Mr. Gartner at, or text him at (920) 397-8043. We would meet at 7:50 in the kitchen and then immediately after the first service to deliver. Thank you in advance for your help.

Advent Service Child Pick-up –
The following will be the room pick-up areas for the next two Advent services:
K-2 – 1st Grade Room
3-4 – 3rd Grade Room
5-8 – 8th Grade Room

9 School Days of Christmas Ties –

Just for a little fun from now until Christmas, we will be doing the 9 days of Mr. Gartner’s Christmas Ties. Each day Mr. Gartner will wear a different Christmas tie. The students will each then have a sheet to keep track throughout the 9 school days until Christmas. Since most did not see Monday’s tie, they can come up to Mr. Gartner and ask for Monday’s tie only. On Friday, December 22nd, they can then turn in their completed sheet and get a pull of M&M’s. One lucky winner will be drawn for the grand prize so don’t show anyone your answers if they don’t know, or there will be more names in the grand prize drawing.

Basketball Etiquette Reminder –

Parents of younger children, if your child is not in the gym watching the game, we ask that they be supervised by a parent. The hallway is too crowded to have students running the hallway. Come cheer on the teams.

Students  waiting for parents & staying for 3:30 worship are reminded to keep coats & backpacks by classroom hooks.
If you are attending the 3:30 Advent service this week, please pick your child(ren) up at the following designated classrooms:   Grades K-2 in the 1st grade classroom   Grades 4-8 in the 8th grade classroom.
If possible your child(ren) should be picked up by 3:15.  No student will be allowed to sit without an adult. If a parent is not available and the child would like to attend church, a staff member will sit with the child toward the front of church.

Many children have exchanged names with their classmates for the room Christmas parties, which will be held Friday, December 22.  It has been the practice to limit the amount spent for the gift of a classmate.  The limit will be $5.00 for all children.

Christmas Gifts are planned for school staff (cooks, custodian, secretary).  Parents desiring to contribute, send monetary gifts to classroom teacher in an envelope marked “Staff Christmas” by Friday, December 15.

Dismissal is at noon on Friday, December 22.  There is no lunch and no pick up bus at noon.  Those using childcare are reminded that childcare closes at 3 PM that day.  Please make the proper arrangements.

Room Parents – Room parents that need money for various parties or teacher gifts, see Mr. Gartner and he will give you the needed money.

Christmas Service Dress Rehearsal – We will once again have a dress rehearsal on Friday, December 15 at 1:30. If you cannot attend the actual Christmas service and would like to hear the students, feel free to join us at 1:30 in the gym.

Band concert is Thursday December 21st  at 6:30 in the gym.  Please arrive by 6:15. Wear band shirts and black bottoms. Members of pre concert ensemble should arrive by 6. Leave instrument cases in the back of the gym. Do not leave any cases in the church.  Band Students have been assigned their band shirts.  Wash as needed.

Winter is almost upon us!  Here are a few weather-related policies to keep in mind…
If the Lake Mills Public Schools are closed due to inclement weather, St. Paul’s School will also be closed.
If school is closed (3K-8th grade), childcare will also be closed.
If there is a late start (usually 10AM), 3K, and morning 4K, and before school care are cancelled. School children can arrive and childcare will open 1/2 hour before school begins.
If there is an early dismissal (usually 12:30PM) childcare will close ASAP (as soon as arrangements are made and safe departures can be provided.)

  • A One Call notification will be sent out even before any TV or radio stations place St. Paul on “closed” status.
  • The NBC stations in Madison (ch.15) and Milwaukee (ch.4) will be the TV stations notified of a school closing.
  • You can check the Lake Mills Public School District website or tune-in to the following radio stations or NBC TV for prompt notice of school delays/cancellations:
