NEW THIS WEEK
Geography Bee – Congratulations to our school Geography Bee champion, Emma Storlie. Congratulations also to Trey Lauber who finished 2nd and to Kyle Wardall who finished third. Emma will now compete to have a chance to go to the state competition.
School Planner/Folders Advertisement – Every year, the students get free folders and student planners. In exchange HP graphics looks for volunteers that would sponsor a section on either of these selections. If you would like to donate a portion, please sign and return the flyer being sent home with the newsletter either by email or hard copy by next Tuesday, January 31.
Strep Throat and/or Flu – This is the time of the school year that we seem to see more cases of flu and strep throat. According to the Wisconsin Health Department a child should be fever free for 24 hours before returning to the classroom. In the case of Strep, the health department says the child should be on medication and fever free for 24 hours before they return to the classroom. When a child returns too soon, they risk infecting others putting them at risk especially those that have compromised immune systems. Please help us out by following these guidelines set out by the health department.
Fine Arts Fair Information and registration forms for the Fine Arts Fair were sent home last week. Please check with your child if you didn’t see a copy. Registration forms are due back by February 14th. If your child will be performing a vocal selection, he/she needs to have it approved by Miss Radue prior to February 14th so please do not put off looking for a suitable song. If you have any questions, please contact Miss Radue: email@example.com Thanks!
The state of Wisconsin provides the Wisconsin Parental Choice Program (WPCP) to eligible students in parochial and non-public schools. Through it, tuition and educationally-related fees are covered in full by the state. Lakeside Lutheran High School participates in this program.
Student eligibility for the WPCP is determined by family residence, family income, and prior year school attendance.
The application period for 2018-2019 begins February 1. By that date, a link on the Lakeside webpage will lead to the state's online application site. For more information how the WPCP might serve your family, contact Principal Grasby at Lakeside (920-648-2321).
Student/Parent Handbook Revisions – We are looking to revise areas of the student handbook in the near future, probably mid to late February, If you would be interested in helping out in these revisions, please contact Mr. Gartner either in person, or by emailing him at firstname.lastname@example.org. If we get enough volunteers, we can break off into several groups to take smaller sections.
You are invited to join us for Chapel every Friday at 8:00 AM and then stay for coffee fellowship. Volunteers are needed to brew some coffee, buy or bake breakfast goods, set up before Chapel, and clean up afterwards. Please sign up to help. It’s a wonderful way to get involved in the fellowship of St. Paul school.
Sickness – We are asking for your help in keeping as much sickness out of the building as possible. If your child has been running a fever in the past 24 hours, please keep your child home. Also, if your child has had flu-like symptoms such as vomiting, aches, or chills, please use a 24 hour guide before sending them back to school.
Lakeside Visual Arts Fair Grades 5-8 The LLHS Visual Arts Fair is being held Sunday, January 28, in connection with the LLHS Pops Concert Thursday, January 25 - completed art projects need to be in the classroom to insure that all of the final, necessary entrance requirements have been met. Thank you!
Box Tops For Education It’s time to count box tops! We are looking for someone who would be willing to coordinate the counting of labels so we can send them in for cash. We just received a check for $544, so it is well worth our time. Contact the office, 648-2918, if you are willing to coordinate this project.
Basketball Etiquette Reminder – Parents of younger children, if your child is not in the gym watching the game, we ask that they be supervised by a parent. The hallway is too crowded to have students running the hallway. Come cheer on the teams.
Annual Voters’ Meeting is Sunday, January 28 at 11:30 AM. Committee reports, highlights of ministry programs and election of officers is the business of the day.
Lakeside course Selection Date Lakeside Lutheran will offer an opportunity for parents of incoming freshmen (your current 8th graders) to come to Lakeside for assistance with course selection on Wednesday, January 24 from 7-8:30 PM. Families also have the opportunity to select courses online. If families have already completed course selections, there is no need to come to Lakeside. School personnel will be on hand to meet with parents and their students to draw up a slate of classes. At the same time, they will assist families needing help to enroll their student.
