NEW THIS WEEK
Fine Arts Fair info was distributed in grades 4-8 two weeks ago. The forms are due back to Miss Radue by February 14th. All vocal pieces need to be approved before the 14th with plenty of time left for you to continue searching for a piece if the one your child hopes to use is not approved. Also remember you need to list an accompanist on the registration form. Please address any questions or concerns to Miss Radue. Thanks!
One of two requirements for the Wisconsin Parental Choice Program (WPCP) is the residency requirement.
The rules of the program are simple. To qualify for the WPCP, a family must reside somewhere in Wisconsin with the exception of Milwaukee County or the Racine Unified School District. Those areas have separate choice programs and Lakeside does not participate in them.
Perhaps the easiest way to prove residency is with a utility bill. The typical documents are an electric bill, a natural gas bill, a water bill, a sewer bill, or a landline telephone bill. The bill must display the name of at least one of the applicant parents exactly as they entered it in the online application site for the WPCP. The address must also be an exact match. Finally, the bill must be dated no earlier than November 1, 2017, and no later than April 20, 2018.
For more information how the WPCP might serve your family, contact Principal Grasby at Lakeside (920-648-2321).
1. The WPCP application period opens February 1. It closes April 20. Apply early and avoid the last minute rush.
2. Early registration for the 2018-2019 school year at Lakeside closes on January 31. Potential choice families are exempt from the required registration fee. Call Lakeside for further information.

"Stuff the Truck" with Donations for Twice is Nice Resale Store
February 17 is the Saturday of the elementary basketball tournament at Lakeside Lutheran High School. Anyone who will be visiting campus for the tourney -- or who could be in the area -- is encouraged to bring household donations, including furniture, to the big truck in the corner of the LLHS east parking lot from 10 am - 4 pm. Teens will unload your vehicle, pack the truck & get it all down to Jefferson that day. Donation receipts available. Thanks for your generosity as we help keep Twice Is Nice supplied with donations this time of year, and thanks to Thrivent Financial for helping provide the truck! If you have any questions about what is accepted, feel free to call the store at 920-674-6868 and ask for a day manager from 9-5 Mon-Sat.
School Planner/Folders Advertisement – Every year, the students get free folders and student planners. In exchange HP graphics looks for volunteers that would sponsor a section on either of these selections. If you would like to donate a portion, please sign and return the flyer sent home with the newsletter either by email or hard copy by Tuesday, January 31.
Strep Throat and/or Flu – This is the time of the school year that we seem to see more cases of flu and strep throat. According to the Wisconsin Health Department a child should be fever free for 24 hours before returning to the classroom. In the case of Strep, the health department says the child should be on medication and fever free for 24 hours before they return to the classroom. When a child returns too soon, they risk infecting others putting them at risk especially those that have compromised immune systems. Please help us out by following these guidelines set out by the health department.
Student/Parent Handbook Revisions – We are looking to revise areas of the student handbook in the near future, probably mid to late February, If you would be interested in helping out in these revisions, please contact Mr. Gartner either in person, or by emailing him at firstname.lastname@example.org. If we get enough volunteers, we can break off into several groups to take smaller sections.
You are invited to join us for Chapel every Friday at 8:00 AM and then stay for coffee fellowship. Volunteers are needed to brew some coffee, buy or bake breakfast goods, set up before Chapel, and clean up afterwards. Please sign up to help. It’s a wonderful way to get involved in the fellowship of St. Paul School.
Sickness – We are asking for your help in keeping as much sickness out of the building as possible. If your child has been running a fever in the past 24 hours, please keep your child home. Also, if your child has had flu-like symptoms such as vomiting, aches, or chills, please use a 24 hour guide before sending them back to school.
Box Tops For Education It’s time to count box tops! We are looking for someone who would be willing to coordinate the counting of labels so we can send them in for cash. We just received a check for $544, so it is well worth our time. Contact the office, 648-2918, if you are willing to coordinate this project.
Basketball Etiquette Reminder – Parents of younger children, if your child is not in the gym watching the game, we ask that they be supervised by a parent. The hallway is too crowded to have students running the hallway. Come cheer on the teams.
