December 10th Announcements

WE CONTINUE OUR MIDWEEK ADVENT SERVICES this Wednesday at 3:30 & 6:30 PM. Sermons will be based on the prophet Malachi. His message warning against apathy and complacency fits our times today as well as his own. A light supper will be served from 4:30-6 p.m., with a freewill offering received to cover expenses. This week will be a fundraiser for the teens who will be attending the WELS International Youth Rally next summer.

UPCOMING BIBLE STUDIES This is the last Sunday for our fall Sunday school, teen class, and adult Bible studies. We’ll be taking a three-week break for the Children’s Christmas Service (12/17), Christmas Eve (12/24), and New Year’s Eve (12/31). We’ll resume on Sunday, January 7th with all new topics. Take a look below and join us on Sundays from 9:15-10:15am as we grow in God’s Word together!

Leader: Pastor Nass
Description: The worldview of more and more Americans is secular humanism. Rather than God being at the center, people are. Truth is whatever people decide is true. Morality is whatever people decide is right. The meaning of life is whatever people want to make of it. Christianity is so refreshingly different! There is a God whose love for us in Christ brings everything else in life into focus.
Length: 4 sessions starting 1/7
Location: 8th Grade Classroom
Format: Videos & Discussion

Adults option 1: THE CHURCH
Leader: Pastor McKenney
Description: If there is only one true Church, why are there so many churches? Where does St. Paul fit in the world-wide picture of churches and where do I fit in the picture of St. Paul’s mission and ministry?
Length: 4 sessions starting 1/7
Location: Sanctuary
Format: Lecture

Leader: Pastor Tomhave
Description: Marriage is a precious union that God created bringing two unique people together as one. Because of the fall into sin, the "oneness" God created is always under attack. This 4 week study will follow the content of Chris Thurman’s book "The Lies Couples Believe about Marriage". The lessons will expose some of the lies we believe and focus us on the truth of Christ who works unity in marriage.
Length: 4 sessions starting 1/7
Location: 7th Grade Classroom
Format: Lecture/Q & A - use of powerpoint and video... 2
Notes: Books will be made available, but not mandatory to participate. Sign up to buy a copy in the gathering area.

BRING YOUR ADVENT SEASON INTO FOCUS! An advent devotional is being offered for your use entitled “Peace for the Broken…” We pray this will be a blessing to you as you stay focused and anticipate God’s greatest gift – his Son, Jesus. You can find them on the information table near the church library.

OUR CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS SERVICE is held next Sunday, December 17 at St. Paul’s gym/auditorium with all children (K-8) participating in both 8:30 & 10:30 services. 3K & 4K will be involved just at 10:30 worship.

MISSION SOCIETY is collecting winter hats and gloves for Mission to the Children. This is an organization that works with our sister churches in Mexico. Most of the homes do not have heat and the temperatures can drop in to the 40s. Mission to the Children hands out hats and gloves to the children of the congregations. There will be a box in the lobby throughout December if you want to participate.

THANKS to all who attended this year's Advent by Candlelight ... it was a wonderful evening of prayer, song and fellowship with over 115 ladies! The Advent by Candlelight committee also wants to thank everyone for their help with moving the chairs and setting up the tables, as well as those who helped get the church back in order after the event.

ST PAUL HAS GONE MOBILE! Jesus says in the great commission, “Go make disciples of all nations…teaching them everything…” The ministry of St. Paul has been doing this for 125 years by connecting people to Christ by baptizing and teaching. How can we do more? How can we connect to people and allow people to connect to our ministry in this modern age of communication? The St. Paul app is a great place to start. This app will allow us to reach out globally with “one touch” access to sermons, service, topical devotions and blogs… This app will allow people to connect to us with instant access to calendars, prayer and info requests, maps, and events. May God bless this new tool in connecting us to Christ, to one another and into our community.
