MID WEEK ADVENT SERVICES – The Prophet Haggai Advent means “Coming.” Jesus came at Christmas and is coming again, so we need to wait and watch and be ready. That waiting and watching connects us with God’s Old Testament people, who looked forward eagerly to the coming of the Messiah. So, at our Wednesday Advent services this year, we’re going to read the prophet Haggai from beginning to end. We prepare our hearts to celebrate the Savior’s birth with midweek Advent services on three Wednesdays of Advent: December 5, 12 and 19.
Service times are 3:30 and 6:30 p.m. A light supper will be served at 4:30. Lakeside’s Operation Go will serve loaded baked potatoes December 5, Mission Society will serve Sloppy Joes December 12, and the Youth Group will serve Tacos December 19.
MISSION SOCIETY meets Monday, December 3rd at 7 PM. Come and join us for an evening of Christmas snacks and treats and a program of songs and scripture. All women of St. Paul are welcome. We will meet in the school library.
SPECIAL VOTERS’ MEETING will be held this Sunday after the second service. The purpose of the meeting is to consider a proposal by the church council to address our offering shortfall through dedicated funds, to discuss the possibility of having to revise our current budget, and to approve the rates proposed by the Bank of Lake Mills for our building project.
PROJECTION SURVEY COMPLETE Thank you to everyone who completed a survey about our test period for worship projection this fall. Overall the response was very positive. Our worship board has been discussing what would be best as we move forward. Right now the greatest hurdle is that we need more volunteers to do this consistently and well. If you'd like to help, contact Troy Schneider or Pastor Nass.
INSTRUMENTALISTS NEEDED FOR CHRISTMAS DAY SERVICE Do you play the clarinet, flute, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, tuba, percussion, violin, guitar or any other instrument? We are planning to have an ensemble accompany the hymns and play special music for the Christmas Day service on Tuesday, December 25, at 9:00am. If you are interested, please sign up by Thanksgiving Day in the church lobby or contact Lois McKenney (text 920-988-0177 or email firstname.lastname@example.org). Practice times will be determined after the sign-up.
FUNERAL PLANNING FORMS Some of our members have asked if there’s a way they could share their favorite hymns and Bible passages that they would like to be included in their funeral when God calls them to heaven. Your obituary and funeral are a wonderful opportunity to confess your faith in Jesus Christ as your Savior, and to point your loved ones to the comfort we have in him. Your pastors here at St. Paul would be happy to work with you on this, and to keep a copy of your plans on file. Funeral planning forms are available on a table in the gathering area.
