February 11th Announcements

CALL   Our 6th grade teacher, Mr. Dais, received a call to teach 6th grade and be the athletic director at Morning Star Lutheran School in Jackson, WI. Feel free to give Mr. Dais any thoughts you might have as he deliberates where the Lord would like to have him serve next year. Above all, keep Mr. Dais and his family in your prayers. There will be an open forum on Wednesday, February 14 at 6:00 pm to discuss his call with the congregation.

BIC CLASS  We are beginning another review of doctrine class.  The purpose of the class is to offer a review of doctrine for current members as well as those who are interested in learning what St. Paul teaches on the basis on God’s Word.  The class will begin on Thursday, February 15th from 6:30-8:30. It will be repeated on Saturday mornings starting February 17th from 9-11 am. Childcare will be provided.  If interested, please sign up in the lobby.

WEDNESDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY: ISAIAH  Through vivid imagery and parables. God used the prophet Isaiah to deliver the stinging rebuke of his Law and the sweet message of the Gospel. Over the coming weeks, we're going to focus on the second half of Isaiah, starting at chapter 40. Join us in the school library on Wednesday mornings at 9:00am as we grow in God's Word together.

WHOLE LIFE GENEROSITY  Join us for the Sundays in Lent between services for a Bible Study on whole-life generosity. This class will be taught by all the pastors at the same time. The plan is to have three classrooms covering the same material so the class sizes are more manageable to allow easier discussion. The general theme is Generosity, but will cover topics in every aspect of life like family, community, charity, wealth, time and more. The foundation of the study will be parables in the gospel of Luke.  Everyone thinking generously -  imagine the impact this can have on your family, our congregation and this community! Mark your calendars and join us as we explore God's Word so that everything we do, we offer God our very best.

ASH WEDNESDAY IS FEBRUARY 14TH  Join us for the beginning of Lent as we once again marvel at our Savior’s love that he would give himself for us. Worship each Wednesday is at 3:30 and 6:30pm (Lord’s Supper Ash Wednesday), with a meal served in between.  We are still looking for a group to serve the meal on February 14.  If you are able to coordinate this, please call the office, 648-2235.

Our midweek Lent this year will focus on the New Testament letter to the Hebrews. This letter was written to people with a strong background in the Old Testament, including the sacrificial system of worship God had used to point ahead to Jesus Christ. Our sins need to be atoned for. A sacrifice must be made. But the price for sin is too steep to be paid by our lives or the lives of any animal. That’s why Jesus came: to be the perfect priest offering the perfect sacrifice (himself!) so that he might once for all pay for the sin of the whole world. Here’s what you can expect:

MARTIN LUTHER COLLEGE CHOIR will be in the area on Friday, February 16.  They will be at Luther Prep in Watertown at 1:45 PM and St. Paul in Fort Atkinson at 7:00 PM.

BUILDING PROJECT UPDATE  The January edition of the building project status update is available at St. Paul in the gathering area. If you aren’t able to pick up a copy in person or read it online, call the church office and we would be happy to mail one to you.

LENT WEEKEND WORSHIP SERIES  This Lent we want to highlight God’s generosity to us (he gave himself, his Son!). That’s the message that melts our hearts into generosity shown back toward him and toward everyone around us. Here’s what you can expect:

WELS INTERNATIONAL YOUTH RALLY 2018  The dates have been set for the 2018 Youth Rally in Bowling Green, Ohio - June 26-29th.  Registration runs from March 1- May 31st. The youth leaders of St. Paul Church would like the teens of the congregation (along with possible chaperones) to start thinking about whether or not they can attend.  We will be posting sign-up sheets soon and also be offering some fund raising opportunities to offset rally costs.  For now, check your calendars and decide whether this international event under the theme, "Never Alone" is going to be a part of your summer!
