Watch

Luke 21:25-36

"There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. (26)Men will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken. (27)At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. (28)When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near." (29)He told them this parable: "Look at the fig tree and all the trees. (30)When they sprout leaves, you can see for yourselves and know that summer is near. (31)Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that the kingdom of God is near. (32)"I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. (33)Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. (34)"Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with dissipation, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you unexpectedly like a trap. (35)For it will come upon all those who live on the face of the whole earth. (36)Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man."

Christ is King

Daniel 7:13-14

"In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. (14)He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all peoples, nations and men of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.”

Grieving With Hope

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope. (14)We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. (15)According to the Lord's own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. (16)For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. (17)After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. (18)Therefore encourage each other with these words.

Jesus Is Coming Again

Hebrews 9:24-28

For Christ did not enter a man-made sanctuary that was only a copy of the true one; he entered heaven itself, now to appear for us in God's presence. (25) Nor did he enter heaven to offer himself again and again, the way the high priest enters the Most Holy Place every year with blood that is not his own. (26) Then Christ would have had to suffer many times since the creation of the world. But now he has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself. (27) Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, (28) so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
